It's hard to believe such an isolated and natural location can exist no more than half an hour from the madding crowd.
North there is Tweed Heads, a bustling centre with all the modern shopping you will need.
To the south, Byron Bay is famous as a tourist attraction.
Inland you have Murwillumbah, which is the gateway to Mt Warning, a popular tourist location.
Southwest lies Mullumbimby, the town which still retains that old world country charm.
Nimbin is within an hour's drive, and for the experience alone well
worth a visit. There is a myriad of well known tourist attractions to
choose from, and the towns with an info logo on the map have Tourist
Information Centres.
Wooyung is a unique location, and central to these attractions.
On the Pacific Highway:
- 30 minutes south of Tweed Heads
Coming from Tweed: Take the "Pottsville" turn-off - drive into Pottsville to a large roundabout.
Turn right at this roundabout and follow the signs to "Wooyung". Across the river, Wooyung is located about 7km south of Pottsville. Once you see the large, red "Reduce Speed" sign.
Slow down, we're only 300m further on the right. Our reception is 20m into the corner at the Wooyung Motel.
- 20 minutes north of Byron Bay
Coming from Byron: Take the "Murwillumbah" exit onto the Tweed Valley Way.
After about 3km, take the right turn towards "Wooyung" and enjoy the winding road through the cane fields.
After about 4km you will see a large, red "Reduce Speed" sign.
Slow down, we're only 200m further on the left just before you hit the beach. Our reception is 50m past the camping area and 20m up the hill at the Wooyung Motel.
